master"PIECES" of my LIFE

kicking off the summer

so the end of school caught us with the end of baseball season because of all the rain delays....AND we swept the winners bracket to become the DLL AA Champs.  SO proud of matt & sebastian.  we finished the season in the 5th seed out of 8 (i think), pretty middle of the pack, but then matt coached & played the kids just right to bring it all the way home!  such a wonderful experience.  matt's balance between understanding fundamental baseball and understanding the capacity of a 9/10 year old was genius (i used that term just for you honey)!  

 

this happened the day before school let out.  then we had last day of school festivities & before i know it sebastian was leaving for summer camp.  his first sleep away camp experience for the entire family.  we all drove him there & believe we left him in good hands.

meet james, one of his cabin counselors.  the ration was 2 to 8 in the cabin.  loving it!

can't wait to hear all about his adventures.  the house is awful quiet but i still have this little one to share a week of one on one time.

loving the girl time together.  matt's in chicago on business for 3 days this week so it truly is just the two of us.  looking forward to having the family together again.

the sequel

our elementary school holds a talent show every spring.  my son has never been interested before but Lexi girl of course was all over it.  together with 6 of her friends Lexi danced & hula hooped to "i love candy".

the act started with the hand jive.  

then half the girls jumped rope while the other half hula hooped.

very, VeRY cute.  lexi really surprised me with her hula hoop skills.  at the end of the song the girls tossed candy into the audience which we had neglected during rehearsals so it came as a surprise to everyone but all ended well!  proud of my baby girl!

1st grade patriotic performance

lexi had her patriot performance yesterday and in lexi style, she rocked it!  in the morning she performed in front of the entire student body.

they look so neat & orderly in their field trip t-shirts.  lexi is in the front row in a navy blue tee 4th one to the left of mrs. knight, our fantastic music teacher at montair.  here's a closer look...

so busy smiling at momma & her big camera she forgot to keep singing.  that's lexi for you, the attention span of a gnat.  anyway, in the evening they performed in front of parents, family & friends.

she delivered it beautifully although the millisecond before she was kind of hopping and looking around like she was a million miles away.  not sure what goes on in that little head of hers but she still delivered the goods and that's all that matters at the end of the day.  

 cutie pie presented mrs. knight her thank you bouquet w/ her buddy mia.  she makes momma proud!

how great are those song lyrics ?!?!  i know, i know.  not very nice or uplifting or feel good, but unfortunately life sometimes is hard, sad, and not fun.  and though i preach to my children "if you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all" and i try to live life as positively as i can... sometimes you just can't get around people who don't understand all that.  SO if you have to lower your positive energy bar and say something mean or not so nice, why not make it GOOD in a bad way.
