monogram gallery wall (master"PIECES" of my LIFE)

i {LOVE} gallery walls.

i have a few different ones in my house and some ideas about some other ones i want to create.

you're greeted with a monogram gallery wall as soon as you step into my front hall | foyer through the front door. on the left past the hall tree divider & front hall closet i decided to display all my Ms together.

you see, my last name starts with M…and...my first name starts with M…and...my husband's first name starts with M. so...yes, that's a lot of Ms. so through the last couple of decades i've acquired many Ms. when we moved into this house i decided to display all the Ms i've accumulated through the years together.

that's the power behind a gallery wall. it's displaying like items in mass which gives them much more impact than dispersed separately throughout the home. although these are all Ms, they are all different. some are script, some are lower case, some are upper case, some are framed. one is actually a hanging hook with another an ornament.

my latest acquisition is the pottery barn ornament i got over the holidays. i fell in love with the font and i knew it would be the perfect addition to the wall. before that i had hanging an old set of skeleton keys, which i love, but this complimented the wall much better.

gallery walls are extremely versatile, evolving and developing as your collection grows. i actually have a couple changes i want to make to this wall & i will share once i've updated it. gallery walls shouldn't have a starting point and in turn do not really have an ending point as long as you have the space to accommodate it. if you start with a smallish collection try to use an odd # to start off, since this makes for a better composition. once you amass a larger collection the quantity becomes less obvious.

i also expanded my display to the the table underneath the gallery wall by including this jeweled M which i picked up over the holidays. i love how it works with the color scheme. gallery walls also need a feature that "unites" the collection. i used a certain color palette to bring my different Ms together and make it a cohesive display. sometimes the types of frames unite a gallery wall, sometimes it's a color scheme, sometimes it's the spatial arrangement, whatever it is, it's what brings a varied collection of like items together. this is what makes a gallery wall come together & pleasing to the eye.
